Visita di UKAEA-United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority al Lab MEDEA-UNIBAS

On May 19, 2026, we had the pleasure of welcoming UKAEA to the MEDEA Lab at CREATE, University of Basilicata.

The visit was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss one of the most demanding challenges in nuclear fusion remote maintenance: the replacement of in-vessel component feeding pipes.

A special thanks to Nick Sykes and Helena Livesey from UKAEA-RACE, to Benedetto Manganelli, Head of the UNIBAS Engineering Department, to Andrea Tarallo from CREATE-UNINA, to Donato Sorgente from the Polytechnic University of Bari, to Francesco Pierri, and to all the members of our teams (Vincenzo Claps, Antonio Di Giacomo, Emanuele Fulco, Graziano Carriero, Carlo Rossetti, Rocco Salvato and Gioacchino Miccichè) for the insightful technical discussions on pipe handling solutions and for exploring potential future collaborations together.
