Tematiche di ricerca:
Le tematiche di ricerca, sviluppate nel corso del 2021, si articolano nei seguenti settori:
- meccanica dei fluidi: analisi del flusso e del trasporto in mezzi porosi (con particolare riferimento alle formazioni prive di scala caratteristica ed ai processi di diluizione delle sostanze chimiche sversate); valutazione della risposta dinamica di corpi investiti da correnti a superficie libera in modo stazionario; modellazione del processo di perfusione ventricolare fisiologica e patologica a partire dalle equazioni di governo dei fenomeni di swelling-drainage dei mezzi porosi; analisi dei flussi sanguigni in corrispondenza di valvole cardiache attraverso luso di tecniche PIV.
- idrologia: previsione degli estremi idrologici; modellazione idrologica distribuita sia per il bilancio idrico sia per la valutazione delle piene in tempo reale; analisi dei fenomeni di cambiamento climatico e degli effetti delle variazioni del clima sulla salute umana con algoritmi di intelligenza artificiale; studio delleco-idrologia; implementazione dei modelli di bilancio energetico per la stima dellevapotraspirazione reale.
- rischio idraulico-idrologico: monitoraggio, previsione e valutazione, a scala locale, regionale e continentale, delle piene in ambito fluviale, pluviale e dovute ad eventi di dam-break; progettazione di sistemi di mitigazione e adattamento del rischio; sviluppo di sistemi di comunicazione e di partecipazione ai processi decisionali nel campo della resilienza idraulica, della gestione integrata delle risorse idriche e dellagricoltura sostenibile. Le attività di ricerca in tale ambito fanno uso di immagini telerilevate e di moderne tecniche di rilievo del territorio (Laser scanner, droni, GPS, fotogrammetria), di modelli di Intelligenza Artificiale, di modelli idrodinamici e geomorfici e di Sistemi Informativi.
- idraulica fluviale: studio della dispersione idrodinamica e del campo di moto delle correnti fluviali, anche in presenza di alvei multicorsali (braiding e sua interpretazione teorico-sperimentale in termini di stream-power) e meandriformi (nel qual caso lenfasi è posta sulle dinamiche ed i tempi caratteristici del cutoff e la creazione degli oxbow-lakes); analisi dei fenomeni di sedimentazione degli invasi ed erosione a valle, delle problematiche connesse al riutilizzo dei sedimenti dragati per il ripascimento delle spiagge in erosione e della fattibilità economica dello stesso; caratterizzazione dei processi di sedimentazione e aggregazione dei sedimenti argillosi negli invasi e nei geotubi di stoccaggio; valutazione del trasporto solido sia su scala locale (ad esempio nellinterazione fra le correnti fluviali e i ponti) che su scala di asta fluviale (ad esempio nel caso di restringimenti dalveo); modellamento degli alvei alluvionati; modellazione basata su tecnica Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics - SPH anche per il trasporto di materiale flottante; monitoraggio delle grandezze idrauliche nei corsi dacqua naturali attraverso luso di tecnologie di realtà aumentata e virtuale.
- infrastrutture idrauliche: sviluppo di metodologie innovative per lottimizzazione delle reti idriche e recupero di energia attraverso tecnologie Smart; implementazione di metodi numerici avanzati per la rilevazione delle perdite nei sistemi acquedottistici.
- idraulica marittima e costiera: valutazione degli scenari indotti sia da mareggiate estreme sia in combinazione con gli effetti dovuti ai cambiamenti climatici per innalzamento del livello medio mare.
