Linee di ricerca:
L'attività di ricerca affronta temi propri della progettazione nel suo rapporto con le scienze (ambientali, fisiche e di fisica applicata, sismiche, geotecniche, delle strutture e dei materiali, delle tecniche costruttive e dell’organizzazione), sia per la realizzazione di nuovi insediamenti sostenibili, che per il recupero del patrimonio edilizio esistente. Le principali ricerche in corso riguardano gli apparati costruttivi storici in Basilicata, ai fini della messa a punto di modelli meta-progettuali di intervento e di un Manuale del Recupero; lo studio del comportamento nel tempo e delle patologie degli edifici tradizionali ed industrializzati e delle metodologie per il miglioramento e l’adeguamento antisismico, energetico e tecnologico; lo studio delle possibilità di condizionamento delle latifoglie endemiche lucane, nell’ottica dell’ottimizzazione delle loro qualità per l’impiego in edilizia, in particolare per la realizzazione di strutture e solai di nuova concezione; la definizione delle metodologie per il confronto analitico della sostenibilità ambientale di svariate alternative progettuali; la progettazione di edifici con involucri ad alta efficienza ed insediamenti Zero Energy, eredi della tradizione della Civiltà Rupestre lucana.
