Linee di ricerca:
Le principali attività di ricerca del gruppo di Scienza e Tecnologia dei Materiali si sviluppano secondo le seguenti direttrici: la sintesi e l’idratazione di cementi speciali ad elevate prestazioni e a ridotto impatto ambientale (low-CO2 cements); l’impiego di rifiuti speciali di origine civile ed industriale in qualità di materiali o materie prime nelle opere di ingegneria civile e nell’industria dei materiali da costruzione; il riciclo di sottoprodotti e rifiuti industriali nel ciclo tecnologico dello stabilimento di provenienza; la formulazione e lo sviluppo di materiali da costruzione a basso costo energetico; lo sviluppo sostenibile nell’industria del cemento; i trattamenti di stabilizzazione/solidificazione di rifiuti solidi industriali pericolosi in matrici cementizie tradizionali e innovative (cementi solfoalluminatici, belitici, solfobelitici, magnesiaci); l’ottenimento di materiali geopolimerici a base di ceneri volanti e metacaolino; la durabilità dei manufatti cementizi sottoposti a cicli di gelo/disgelo e in presenza di cloruri, solfati e atmosfera di anidride carbonica; lo studio di malte antiche.
